What Missionary Care Is All About at Immanuel Baptist Church

Missionary Support Ministry (MSM), formerly WMF, is the personal face of Immanuel’s missionary program, meeting the specific needs of each missionary family or single through regular correspondence, gifts celebrating birthdays and Christmas, and special projects.  A few recent examples are baby clothes for a new missionary mother in Malaysia, language programs for missionaries in Africa and Greece, Bibles for state legislators, gift bags for the members of a ladies’ Bible study hosted by a missionary, and even a new computer for a retired missionary.

But the most essential thing we do for them is pray.

MSM also oversees Immanuel’s two townhomes named for Mary Elizabeth Baker (see note below).  When a missionary returns for home assignment, MSM is there making sure that they will receive a warm welcome with essential groceries and a clean and well-decorated home away from home.

Do you have a love for missions? Do you wish you could “do” something to advance the Gospel at home or around the world?  Do you Pray? Our groups meet (usually monthly) in various locations around the Greater Richmond area to pray for the group’s assigned missionaries and to fellowship with each other.  Contact Carole Wyncoop via email at cwyncoop@verizon.net  or the church office for more information.

** Note: Mary Baker was sent out as a missionary from Immanuel to the Congo in 1946.  She served for 18 years as a faithful and beloved Bible teacher and evangelist.   She and 12 others were martyred.
