Missionary Care at Immanuel Baptist Church
Immanuel’s Missionary Support Ministry (MSM) is the personal, hands-on expression of our commitment to global missions. We come alongside each missionary and family through faithful prayer—both individually and in our groups—while also meeting practical needs and offering encouragement, reminding them they are never alone.
Some History: Sent from Immanuel to the Congo in 1946, Mary Baker faithfully served for 18 years as a beloved Bible teacher and evangelist. She and 12 others were martyred for their faith. Her legacy continues through the missionary homes that bear her name.

How We Care
MSM serves our missionaries in meaningful and tangible ways, such as:
Regular communication and encouragement, birthday and Christmas gifts, a home to stay when visiting Richmond, special projects, short-term missions teams, and needs specific to each field.
But above all, we pray—faithfully, personally, and continually.
Welcoming Missionaries Home
MSM also oversees Immanuel’s two missionary townhomes, named in honor of Mary Elizabeth Baker. When missionaries return for home assignment, our team prepares the homes with essential groceries, thoughtful touches, and a warm, ready space for rest and renewal.

If you have a heart for missions and want to make a real difference—right here from Richmond—we’d love for you to be part of MSM. Groups meet monthly in various locations across the metro area to pray for their assigned missionaries, share updates, and enjoy fellowship.
