There is a hint of fall in the air which at Immanuel means that the annual Missions Conference is around the corner. This year’s Missions Conference will be held October 28th and 29th. The Missions Council has decided that rather than hold the conference over two consecutive weekends instead we’ll have one weekend in the fall with a focus on International missions, and another in the spring with a local or US mission emphasis.
The theme for our fall conference will be “Till the Whole World Knows.” Our keynote speaker will be Mr. John Hutcheson, Field Director for Frontline Missions International. www.frontlinemissions.info Mr. Hutcheson’s first message will be Saturday night at the Missions Banquet (5:30-8:00). He will then share three more times on Sunday, at 9:30, 10:45 and 6:30 services.
Frontline Missions is committed to advancing the Gospel in the world’s difficult places with a focus on the 10/40 window region. This area of the world is the most-populated yet least-reached. Some of you might be familiar with Frontline’s videographer, Tim Keesee, and his “Dispatches from the Front” www.dispatchesfromthefront.org whose chronicles tell of some of these difficult places.
One of the challenges of having only one weekend for the Missions Conference is that there aren’t enough opportunities to hear from our own missionaries. During the month of October we will be providing a program for the Sunday school hour and Sunday evening services to hear reports from our IBC missionaries. Here’s what the schedule looks like:
|Sunday Morning 9:30||Sunday Evening 6:30|
|October 1||GNAA report||
“Ministry Share” Churchwide
|October 8||Movie “Insanity of God” Part I||Soma Groups & PM service|
|October 15||Movie “Insanity of God” Part II||Asia Report – Alana Carithers|
|October 22||Japan report – Sakamotos||Charles Haines Report/Reception|
|October 29||Mission Conference – Session 2||Missions Conference – Session 4|
