Kingdom Man

Tom SmithMen's Ministry

It seems strange to me to start an article with a question, but I’ve been accused of stranger things, so here goes. What do men enjoy? After eleven years of being in Immanuel’s Men’s Ministry, three things have consistently popped up.

First is food! No doubt about that. And our Men’s Ministry has plenty of it every week! And it’s man food that guys love, make and bring themselves. (Well, maybe not without a little help at times but we still give them the credit). Food like chili, meatballs, and sandwiches – whatever is simple. Did I mention donuts are often a topping?

Second is fellowship. When men eat, they talk, (yes, maybe with their mouths full). But don’t try to get a visual image of that. The point is REAL conversation takes place – especially when a man is willing to share what’s going on in his life with other men who usually have the same things going on in theirs.

Third is Spiritual feeding. I have found that men WANT to be who Jesus wants them to be – for Jesus, for themselves, for their families and for the others around them.

To that end, or should I say as our exciting beginning, this Fall our Men’s Ministry group is presenting a series by Dr. Tony Evans called “Kingdom Man: Every Man’s Destiny, Every Woman’s Dream”. It explains how being a man of God will appeal to those around us – to our wives, our families, our world, and our LORD!

Men – feel free to come because of the food. I can assure you before it is done you will be fed in a much more “nourishing” way.

God bless you men and I hope to see you on Wednesday nights this Fall.
